What was the Asian bride box call?

I remember seeing in a museum, they had these little wooden boxes decorated for brides Asian to sit on? (Not remembering the sector in Asia, but it was like .. Chinese or Japanese, not sure), and girlfriends took place in? I hope it was for brides .. but I could be wrong. I remember thinking they were too small and I wanted to know what is called for me to research more. Thanks!
